Overview

Bridget Blinn's practice is focused on employment and labor litigation. Her litigation experience includes matters dealing with claims of various kinds of discrimination and sexual harassment as well as retaliation claims under Title VII, Sarbanes-Oxley, and Sabine Pilot claims. She also handles tort claims against individual defendants and has expertise in various aspects of non-competition agreements. She provides counseling to clients regarding employment decisions and compliance with federal and state laws and regulations, including Title VII, the Fair Labor Standards Act, the Family and Medical Leave Act, the Age Discrimination in Employment Act, the Americans with Disabilities Act, the Fair Credit Reporting Act, and various other federal and state laws impacting employment relationships.

 

Representative Experience

  • Claims in major cases include discrimination, retaliation (including whistleblower suits under Sarbanes-Oxley), Sabine Pilot, tort claims against individual defendants, Fair Labor Standards Act and non-competition enforcement and defense.
  • Federal jury trial of race discrimination and retaliation claims;
  • Federal bench trial on non-competition and breach of fiduciary duty claims;
  • Arbitration of grievances under collective bargaining agreements
  • Presentation and defense of temporary restraining orders in non-competition and theft of trade secrets cases;
  • Taking and defending key depositions;
  • Summary judgment and appellate briefing on a variety of matters, including all major employment statutes;
  • Litigation planning, including strategy for case development and defense; preparation and responses to written discovery; preparation of witnesses for deposition; client counseling on a range of issues including investigating, avoiding, and defending discrimination and retaliation claims; ensuring compliance with federal and state laws regarding leave and compensation; preparing and revising employee handbooks; and providing training for management and supervisory employees.
  • Agency practice experience with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, the Department of Labor, the Texas Workforce Commission, and the National Labor Relations Board.
  • Key successes include negotiating early settlement of meritless claims after discovery including plaintiff's depositions.
