 Michael Lang's practice focuses on patent litigation and complex commercial litigation in state and federal courts. Michael has represented businesses and individuals in litigation involving allegations of patent infringement, breach of contract, deceptive trade practices, fraud, tortious interference, conversion, civil conspiracy, misrepresentation, breach of warranty, R.I.C.O., Fair Credit Reporting Act and securities fraud. He has represented clients in a number of industries including banking, manufacturing, real estate and technology.
- Represented owner of telecommunications patents in patent infringement litigation in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Texas. Obtained favorable settlement for client, after Markman hearing.
- Represented owner of telecommunications patents in licensing program.
- Defended international nutritional supplement company in litigation involving allegations of breach of contract, securities fraud and R.I.C.O. Obtained summary judgment in client's favor.
- Represented nutritional supplements company in distributor dispute in Illinois, resulting in dismissal of claims against client for improper venue and affirmed on appeal (reported at 438 F.3d 759 (7th Cir. 2006)).
- Represented nutritional supplements company in securities fraud, RICO, and civil fraud class action, resulting in dismissal of claims against clients on 12(b) motion (reported at 2007 U.S. Dist. LEXIS 18256 (N.D. Texas 2007)).
- Represented limited partners in litigation against general partner involving breach of fiduciary duty, breach of partnership agreement and conversion. Obtained favorable settlement for client.
Defended individual in litigation involving breach of contract and breach of fiduciary duty between partners.
- Represented financial institution in litigation involving breach of contract and priority dispute regarding security interests in pool of auto leases. Obtained favorable settlement for client.
- Defended international aluminum recycling company in litigation involving breach of contract. Obtained favorable settlement for client.
- Defended builder in litigation involving claims of fraud, breach of contract and violation of DTPA. Obtained summary judgment in client's favor.
- Represented commercial landlords and tenants in lease disputes.
- Represent and advise consumer reporting agencies on issues relating to compliance with and violations of the Fair Credit Reporting Act.
